Catherine Burns
Mammals Team Leader

Catherine Burns - Mammals Leader, Bedford Audubon BioBlitzDr. Catherine Burns currently works as the Research Director for WildMetro, an environmental non-profit organization based in Manhattan. WildMetro conducts research on plants and animals in the New York metropolitan area to understand how urbanization impacts the natural environment, and to better protect nature in the region.

Dr. Burns is generally interested in studying the impacts of anthropogenic landscape  change on wildlife communities. She completed her Ph.D. and a post-doctoral fellowship in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Yale University studying the impact of habitat loss on small mammals in Connecticut, and investigating the effects of fire regime on large herbivores in South African and North American grasslands.

Dr. Burns and colleagues from Yale University and WildMetro will be leading the  mammal surveys for the BioBlitz.
