Dianna
Smith is membership chairperson and co-Vice-President of the
Connecticut-Westchester Mycological Association; member of the New York
Mycological Society; member of the education committee of the North American
Mycological Association. producer of SCAPES, an educational community
cable television series of half-hour programs devoted to environmental, nature
and gardening topics; record-keeper and photographer of fungi found on
COMA-scheduled walks.
Her
photographs appear on several educational mycology web sites including author
Michael Kuo's
www.mushroomexpert.com, and biologist Gary Emberger's site on wood-decaying
fungi
www.messiah.edu/Oakes/fungi_on_wood, and the website created by Dianna to
help amateur mycologists understand what they are finding. She is also the
Westchester area contact person for questions on mushroom toxicology for the
Long Island Poison Control Center. Her doctoral work was in the history of
science and technology.
